A well-adapted home is key to alleviating the anxieties that come with living independently as you advance in age. Modifying your home can make it safer and easier for you to live and move around in.

Our occupational therapists will work closely with you to understand your needs and identify areas to modify or improve. These may include installing ramps, grab rails in toilets, kitchen modification and more.

Eligibility criteria*

  • You need to be aged over 65 or over 50 for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders.
  • Some services may be available to people aged under 65.

This service is designed for older people who are keen to live well at home in a safe and comfortable environment. We can make modifications to your home and outdoor areas, making it easier for you to move around.

Yes, this service can be aligned with your values and preferences. We will take the time to learn your individual cultural and care needs so they are always considered when making our recommendations. We will also encourage you to set meaningful goals and help you to achieve them. You may also have your preferred support person included during the program or access interpreting services if required.

This service is delivered by registered Occupational Therapists, who are trained to identify potential hazards and make modifications so that you may continue living independently at home. They may also organise pre-approved contractors to assist with home modification works and the installation of assistive technologies around your home.

We do not need to renovate your home to make modifications. An initial assessment will be conducted to determine your level of needs. We will then make recommendations and work with you to decide the most effective home modification solutions based on your health condition.
